COMPLICATED YET SIMPLE

One of BOVET’s most complicated masterpieces, this timepiece is incredibly easy to set and use. A patented quick set corrector, set at 12 o’clock, advances every indication, something never done before.

I conceived this timepiece while sitting in the courtyard of the castle, contemplating the heavens above me. I then translated what I saw into this timepiece. The tellurium orrery shows the moon rotating around the earth, while the tourbillon represents the sun.

TELLURIUM-ORRERY

The Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital stands out with its poetic Tellurium-Orrery complication, a miniature astronomical model depicting Earth, Moon, and Sun in harmonious motion. Conceived by owner Pascal Raffy while sitting under the stars, it integrates a hand-engraved, hand-painted hemispherical Earth at 12 o’clock, featuring luminous oceans, mountains, and forests that rotate on a 24-hour scale. Orbiting this globe is a three-dimensional moon phase accurate to one day every 122 years, capturing the synodic cycle of 29.53 days with breathtaking realism.

PATENTED FLYING TOURBILLON

At the heart of the “Sun” representation lies BOVET’s patented double-sided flying tourbillon, suspended mid-air above the movement for unparalleled transparency. Its titanium cage, shaped like radiant sunbeams, completes a 60-second rotation, doubling as a seconds indicator via a fixed marker—eliminating any traditional hand. This innovative architecture splits the escapement below and balance above a central pivot, exposing both sides through dual sapphire crystals.

WRITING DESK

The timepiece’s Dimier “writing desk” case exemplifies BOVET’s sculptural ethos, houses the manual-wound manufacture movement (669 components), assembled by hand by one master watchmaker. A single barrel delivers a remarkable nine-day power reserve, achieved through energy-efficient artisanal techniques.

PERPETUAL CALENDAR

Complementing the front’s celestial drama, the caseback reveals a retrograde perpetual calendar with double-sided date discs—a patented rarity activated by a clever rack system. All other indicators are viewed on the back. The patented quick-set pusher at 12 o’clock advances all indications instantly. This fusion of grand complications earned the 2018 GPHG Aiguille d’Or, affirming its status as wrist-worn horological theater.
